sustainable materials

With coats made of cotton, flax and basalt, we process real natural fibres. The King penguin is made of recycled PET. The actual cable inside recable has a sheath made of 100 % recycled material. The recycled content in our copper is 40-50%. Only recycled tin is soldered.

recyclable

recable is 90 % recyclable. The inner cable from which recable is constructed is 100% recyclable. Our sleeve made of PET and basalt can be fully recycled, the cotton and flaxsleeve are compostable. We participate in the Dual System for packaging recycling and are certified with the Green Dot.

fair & conflict-free

Our cable is manufactured fairly in Germany, the plugs come from fair production in China. Only lead-free tin from conflict-free sources is soldered. Certified according to Dodd-Frank (Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act), recable contains no conflict minerals.

without plasticizers & heavy metals

No plasticizers, no heavy metals. Certified according to REACH (EC Regulation No. 1907/2006) and RoHS (EU Directive 2002/95/EC). We give you this promise obligatorily with our declaration of conformity.

handmade in Germany

recable is handmade for you in Merseburg. We only produce what is in demand to avoid electrical waste. We source all individual parts from within a 500 km radius - with the exception of the plugs. Our CO₂ footprint is about half that of standard USB cables. You can read more about this here.

durable

Durable and particularly hard-wearing. We were able to prove this in our buckling test: It withstands more than 15,000 buckles in both directions. That is a very good value!

repairable

recable is not potted or glued, so you can repair it yourself. You can find our repair instructions here. We are committed to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the UN, especially point 12 (responsible consumption and production).

vegan & not tested on animals

recable should not contain animal products and is not tested on animals. This also applies to the packaging.

BUT: Our cable manufacturer processes stearates as an additive. These are generally obtained from vegetable or animal fats. Unfortunately, we cannot make any statement about the origin of the stearates.
recable is also certified according to RoHS. This EU directive prohibits certain toxic substances in electronics. Whether a substance is toxic is found out by tests. Also the substances that concern RoHS have been tested once a long time ago - most likely on animals. Is there a statute of limitations on animal testing?

eco-friendly packaging

recable comes to you in plastic-free and material-saving packaging: in a banderole made of grass paper. Shipping is climate neutral in environmentally friendly packaging material.
