sustainable materials

With sleeves made of cotton, flax, and basalt, we process real natural fibers. The King penguin consists of recycled PET. The actual cable inside recable has a sleeve made of 100% recycled material. The recycled content in our copper is 40–50%. Only recycled tin is used for soldering.

recyclable

recable is 90% recyclable. The inner cable from which recable is made is 100% recyclable. Our sleeves made of PET and basalt can be fully recycled, while the cotton and flax sleeves are compostable. We participate in the dual system for packaging recycling and are certified with the Green Dot.

fair & conflict-free

Our cable is fairly produced in Germany, and the plugs come from fair production in China. Only lead-free tin from conflict-free sources is used for soldering. Certified according to Dodd-Frank (Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act), recable contains no conflict minerals.

free from plasticizers & heavy metals

No plasticizers, no heavy metals. Certified according to REACH (EC Regulation No. 1907/2006) and RoHS (EU Directive 2002/95/EC). We give you this promise as a binding commitment with our Declaration of Conformity.

handmade in Germany

recable is handmade for you in Merseburg. We only produce what is in demand to avoid electronic waste. We source all parts within a 500 km radius – except for the plugs. Our CO₂ footprint is about half that of conventional USB cables. Learn more here.

durable

Long-lasting and especially robust. In our bend test, we proved: it withstands more than 15,000 bends in both directions. That’s a very good value!

repairable

recable is not cast or glued so you can repair it yourself. You can find our repair instructions here. We are committed to the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), especially Goal 12 (responsible consumption and production).

vegan & cruelty-free

recable should contain no animal products and is not tested on animals. This also applies to the packaging.

BUT: Our cable manufacturer uses stearates as an additive. These are generally derived from plant or animal fats. Unfortunately, we cannot provide information about the origin of the stearates.
recable is also RoHS certified. This EU directive prohibits certain toxic substances in electronics. Whether a substance is toxic is determined through tests. The substances covered by RoHS were tested a long time ago – most likely on animals. Can an animal test become outdated?

environmentally friendly packaging

recable comes to you in plastic-free and material-saving packaging: a band made of grass paper. Shipping is climate-neutral using environmentally friendly packaging materials.
